This is the superb US army issue polypropylene thermal shirt which was the base layer in the ECWCS (Extended Cold Weather Clothing System) used in Extreme cold-weather conditions. The performance of this thermal shirt is simply stunning. Polypropylene material retains more body heat than any material and combined with the inner fleece lining feels extremely warm once put on. It has moisture wicking properties to take moisture away from the body and the shiny outer side is to minimise friction with other layers for free movement. This shirt is not as long as many military thermal shirts and is often tucked into the thermal leggings. This shirt should be a close fit to be effective and may seem small at first but when tried they stretch to accomodate.
